On January 21, 2023, on a quiet stretch of beach near Astoria, Oregon, I encountered one of three dead whales which washed ashore in Oregon in one week. This one happened to be at the same location as the 1906 shipwreck of the iron barque Peter Iredale. As a photographer, I documented the scene with a variety of tools, from iPhone to 4x5 film.
